Last April, Michele Bachmann caused herself a huge amount of totally unnecessary embarrassment through her complete ignorance of matters relating to the world economy, and her dogged determination to make incendiary pronouncements on the subject anyway, despite her complete ignorance.
She must have come to miss that experience over the last fifteen months, because she has launched a summer sequel to that blockbuster hit. This time, she has taken for her text the phrase “global economy”.
You just can’t fool this lady, no matter how hard you try. You can try to cunningly conceal your international conspiracies by giving them names that sound meek, mild and inoffensive. But Michele Bachmann will still penetrate straight through to the secret meaning of things. And then ride through the streets in the nude on a white charger, ringing a bell and shouting “The One World Government is coming! The One World Government is coming!” (Or am I getting my Famous Moments in Horse-riding a little mixed up?)
This is the early warning Bachmann issued in response to the recent G20 conference in Toronto:
If you look at the G20, what they’re trying to do is bind together the world’s economies. Look how that played out in the European Union when they bound all of those nations economies together and one of the smallest economies, Greece, when they got into trouble, that one little nation is bringing down the entire EU. Well, President Obama is trying to bind the United States into a global economy where all of our nations come together in a global economy. I don’t want the United States to be in a global economy where, where our economic future is bound to that of Zimbabwe. I can’t, we can’t necessarily trust the decisions that are being made financially in other countries. I don’t like the decisions that are being made in our own country, but certainly I don’t want to trust the value of my currency and my future to that of like a Chavez down in Venezuela. So I think clearly this is a very bad direction because when you join the economic policy of different nations, it is one short step to joining political unity and then you would have literally, a one world government. That’s not going to be, I think, helpful in the future for our country and I don’t want to cede United States authority to a transnational organization.
I don’t think it’s enough just to howl with derision at the fact that Bachmann doesn’t seem to have the foggiest idea what the phrase “global economy” aactually means or refers to.
Just like she had done with “international reserve currency” last year, she went on to invent her own meaning.
But what could possibly have put the idea into Bachmann’s head that there is some kind of super-secret conspiracy to bind “all of our nations” into an European Union style economic entity? And she’s clearly not talking about just the G20 nations banding together like this. Bringing up Zimbabwe and Hugo Chavez makes it clear she’s talking about literally all the countries in the world. A true One World Order.
This woman is just a stark raving lunatic. She’s totally delusional. Can’t the House of Representatives have her committed, or something?
