Daughter’s Soccer Game, My Foot!!

The press seems to have their panties in a twist about President Obama sneaking out of the White House on Saturday morning without them in tow, to watch one of his daughters play in a soccer game.

Apparently, he is simply not allowed to behave like this. The relationship between the President and the White House press corps is evidently closely modeled on that between Mary and her little lamb. (And if you’re thinking that the little lamb never threw tantrums, shame on you; that was only because Mary never gave probable cause.)

Here’s the AP, grumbling about the President’s thoughtless behavior:

President Barack Obama quietly breached years of protocol on Saturday morning by leaving the White House without the press with him.

About two hours before reporters were supposed to be in position to leave with the president, Obama left the grounds of the White House. Members of the press were told he was attending one of his daughter’s soccer games in northwest Washington, D.C.

The White House press corps traditionally travels with the president anywhere he goes, inside and outside the country, to report on the president’s activities for the benefit of informing the public and for historical record.

After Obama left, a press aide hastily gathered members of the media who happened to be at the White House early or working on other matters. They rushed to a van and left the White House to catch up with the president.

Too late. By the time, the press van appeared to arrive at the president’s location, the press was told he was already departing. Time to go back to the White House.

Reporters and photographers didn’t have a chance to see him or his vehicle to verify his presence at any location.

Although nobody outside the White House or the press may have noticed, Obama broke years of tradition.

At least one blog is not buying the official White House cover story for this totally undocumented Presidential escapade. They have realized that something pretty nefarious obviously went down Saturday morning. Because, ladies and gentlemen, there wasn’t even any soccer game on at the time:

Reading the story about President Obama breaking tradition and ditching the presidential press pool over the weekend to watch one of his daughter’s soccer games, it appears harmless, right? Not so. It is rather disturbing when you dissect it.

Seems simple enough. But the story has several problems. The first one is a biggie in that there were no scheduled soccer games for Sidwell Friends April 10, as evidenced here. The second is that the area reported that the game was played at appears to be one of high crime, as documented here and here.
[...]
Something is most definitely wrong. The President of the United States venturing out to a soccer game that didn’t exist in a high-crime area.

That link in the quote is for the Sidwell Friends School, which the Obama girls attend. And when you click on the link, they (gasp!) don’t even list a girls soccer team. So not only was there no game, Obama’s daughters aren’t even on a soccer team in the first place!!! The next time Obama ducks out without the press to do who-knows-what with who-knows-whom in a high-crime area, he might at least take the trouble to prepare a better cover story.

In case you’re wondering why this blog would write about this topic, here’s what we can only call their mission statement:

American Thinker is a daily internet publication devoted to the thoughtful exploration of issues of importance to Americans. Contributors are accomplished in fields beyond journalism, and animated to write for the general public out of concern for the complex and morally significant questions on the national agenda.

There is no limit to the topics appearing on American Thinker. National security in all its dimensions, strategic, economic, diplomatic, and military is emphasized. The right to exist and the survival of the State of Israel are of great importance to us.

So there you have it. It’s 9:45 a.m. EDT on Tuesday morning, and no one has any bloody idea what our President was up to 72 hours ago. The national security implications of that are mind-boggling. Our right to exist and the survival of the State of Israel are probably at stake.

(I wonder if Glenn Beck will pick up on this today?)
