In a post about the spending freeze passages in Obama’s SOTU Paul Krugman compares Obama’s own words to those of House Minority Leader John Boehner and says:

But it’s a spectacular demonstration of Obama’s failure to change the narrative. Not only is he accepting the general Republican world view, he’s parroting their dumb attacks on his own policies.

Unfortunately this isn’t restricted to this issue. The political landscape in this country will never change as long at the President, de facto head of the Democratic party, speaks likes this. I don’t think advocating compromise is wise given who is on the other side of the bargaining table and their transparent political strategy of just opposing everything. But even for Obama sycophants who bought into the strategy of compromise, adopting Republican policies and rhetorical frames and then compromising further must be seen for what it is: insane.
