Health Insurance Factoids

According to a North Carolina Institute of Medicine study (pdf):

  • Massachusetts is not included in the study.
  • (edited)

  • The number of people without health insurance went up between 2007 and 2009 in 47 out of the other 49 states. The other two states showed no change.
  • In 2009, there are 15 states in which the number of uninsured is 20% or more.
  • In 2009, the uninsurance rate in Arkansas (Blanche Lincoln’s home state) is 20%.
  • In 2009, the uninsurance rate in Louisiana (Mary Landrieu’s home state) is 22%.
  • In 2009, the uninsurance rate in Nebraska (Ben Nelson’s home state) is 10%.
  • (Funny how Ben Nelson is more amenable to healthcare reform than Landrieu and Lincoln.)
