Race To The Bottom

Remember when the unofficial leader of the Republican party used to be Rush Limbaugh? Now the DNC, perhaps with malice aforethought, seems to have passed the mantle to Glenn Beck. Here’s a press release the DNC came up with:

With apologies to Tom DeLay, and despite the railing you’re hearing from the Republican cloakroom and Fox News, the GOP has been ‘dancing with czars’ for a very long time. The unmitigated hypocrisy of these attacks not only speaks to the credibility of this manufactured controversy, but to the inability of the Republican party to say no to the marching orders doled out by Glenn Beck and the far right’s noise machine.

Right on cue, Limbaugh produced this desperate attempt to crowd out Glenn Beck from the spotlight:

In a remark extraordinary even by the standards of conservative talk show host Rush Limbaugh, the right-wing radio heavyweight declared on his program Wednesday that the United States needed to return to racially segregated buses.

Referring to an incident in which a white student was beaten by black students on a bus, Limbaugh said: “I think the guy’s wrong. I think not only it was racism, it was justifiable racism. I mean, that’s the lesson we’re being taught here today. Kid shouldn’t have been on the bus anyway. We need segregated buses — it was invading space and stuff. This is Obama’s America.”

A race to the bottom (nullus) between these two filth-spewing hatemeisters? What could we ever have done to deserve this fate worse than death?
