It may be officially time to start referring to Rudee Giuliani as Rudee Screwloosiani. As far back as I can remember, he has always been shamefully dishonest, but now he seems to have totally divorced himself from both reality and logic.
Monday morning, on MSNBC‘s “Morning Joe” (that’s the place you go to when you can’t afford to go anywhere else because you’re spouting unmitigated garbage that anyone with an IQ exceeding their would challenge), Screwloosiani explained how he knows for a fact that waterboarding does nothing to help al Qaeda’s recruitment efforts.
According to this formidable repository of information about all things terrorism-related, it is “one of the great fallacies” that “Islamic extremist terrorists are particularly impressed by the way we conduct our interviews”. And that is because:
They couldn’t give a darn. I’ve been investigating them since the late 1960′s, early 1970s They are single-minded, they have their own objectives in mind. We can be as nice to them or as bad to them as possible, they don’t recruit based on that. They recruit on the basis of their hatred of the West, they recruit on the basis of hatred of women, they recruit based on their hatred of the modern world…
I’ve read thousands and thousands of documents, listened to tape recordings, I’ve never heard an Islamic terrorist say, “Oh, gee, I became a terrorist because they waterboarded some other terrorist.”
Someone evidently needs to sit down Rudee, and explain to him in terms he is capable of understanding (which presumably means following the noun-verb-and-9/11 rule in every sentence) that:
— first of all, you recruit terrorists by exploiting the hatreds of your intended recruits, so your hatreds are not really what matter
— since time travel has still not been invented, it’s not altogether surprising that in the days when the great Screwloosiani was a prosecutor (the 60s, 70s, and 80s), and reading thousands and thousands of documents, and listening to tape recordings, Islamic terrorists were not yet saying that our use of waterboarding was part of their motivation for becoming a terrorist
— there’s only one reliable way to stop making a fool of himself like this, and that is to stop appearing on TV.
