When moderate Republican Arlen Specter left the Republican party, that was visible evidence of the imminent resurgence of the Republican party:

Sen. Arlen Specter’s decision to switch parties and run for reelection as a Democrat foreshadows a Republican landslide in midterm elections, Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.) argued Wednesday.

“This is the first visible evidence that what happened in 1993 is happening again now,” Inhore (sic; or should that be “Freudian sic”?) said during an appearance on Fox News, arguing that the 2010 midterm elections will mirror the 1994 elections in which Republicans made major gains.

(Inhofe also denies global warming, but why should we rain on his parade?)

When moderate Republican Charlie Crist announces that he will run for the Senate, that too is evidence of imminent Republican resurgence:

Florida Gov. Charlie Crist’s announcement yesterday that he will run for the Senate is being cast by Republicans as a sign that their political fortunes are turning for the better with the emergence of a new crop of moderate voices lining up for 2010 races.

“It’s a big tent with plenty of room for the Charlie Crists of this world,” said Ari Fleischer, a former White House press secretary, of the current state of the GOP.

They’ve got us coming and going. Democrats should be quaking in their boots.
