Jay Bybee insists he did not engage in torture, and was not responsible for torture, because he was just a lawyer doing lawyer stuff. He may not have acted in the torture movie but, boy, was he a hands-on director!

You would like to place Zubaydah in a cramped confinement box with an insect. You have informed us that he appears to have a fear of insects. … As we understand it, you plan to inform Zubaydah that you are going to place a stinging insect into the box, but you will actually place a harmless insect in the box, such as a caterpillar. After reading that, I imagine even his mother would be hard-pressed to claim with a straight face that her son did not engage in torture, or was not responsible for torture.
