In Search Of Shovel Ready Projects

So now they’re starting to talk of another stimulus bill. Which is going to require more shovel-ready projects. But if the last stimulus bill had to contain a heavy dose of tax cuts because there weren’t enough shovel-ready projects, then it’s not clear how any more are going to be generated in short order.

Unless Americans can somehow be put to work shoveling the vast amount of doo-doo Republicans have generated in the course of the stimulus debate? Or does the word “debate” not apply when one side has irrevocably crossed over into la-la land? Which is what you have to call it when Republicans pretty universally propose to counter a recession that’s threatening to grow into a depression by cutting spending or cutting taxes or, better still, both.
