They Jabbed Him With The Voodoo Pin Again
by sarabeth at 6:43 am on March 7th, 2009 in Religious Right / ExtremistsI think I’m finally in sympathy with those who believe that the White House is orchestrating this whole Rush Limbaugh media flap thing. Take what Limbaugh ended up saying yesterday:
Rush Limbaugh carved a new notch in his ever-expanding belt of tastelessness when he predicted Sen. Ted Kennedy would be 6 feet under by the time Congress passed health care reform.
“Before it’s all over, it’ll be called the Ted Kennedy memorial health care bill,” the conservative radio host sneered on his show yesterday.
There’s only one possible explanation for the Bimbaugh repeatedly coming out with stuff like this. And that would be a closely guarded voodoo doll in the White House. I think they jab the pin in his scrotum. And they stop only when he has said something sufficiently inflammatory, something that will add high-quality fuel to the already blazing Rush-Limbaugh-media-flap fire.
Democrats, of course, are going to be all over Limbaugh for this. It’s already begun:
Brian Wolff, executive director of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee denounced the remark as “reprehensible.”
But let’s be fair to Bimbaugh. It isn’t like he’s wishing Ted Kennedy dead. He’s just dancing on his grave. Maybe a little prematurely, but we’re really going to fault Limbaugh just for being a little over-enthusiastic?
That’s all it is, really, just his inner child being a little over-eager. As someone said the other day, Bimbaugh is the vilest kind of ugly-ass hatemonger. And, sometimes, I’m sure it’s just too hard to contain all that roiling hate till the time is ripe.
(It’s also entirely possible that Bimbaugh retains enough peripheral sanity to recognize that garbage like this would be just as tasteless after Kennedy dies. So nothing’s gained by holding it in till tomorrow. Just let it rip today.)
