On December 15, Condi Rice, Ph. D, declared (with a perfectly straight face, as usual) that Bush’s Middle East efforts represent “the best chance yet to end the conflict between Israel and the Palestinians”.

Could it have been outrage at this ludicrously false statement that prompted Israel and Hamas to jump right back into the endless cycle of senseless violence just “eight days after a six-month Egypt-brokered cease-fire between Hamas and Israel expired”?

Personally, I look forward to a statement from Madame Secretary explaining how the chances to end the conflict between Israel and the Palestinians have actually improved in the last three days, and how George Bush deserves all the credit.
