… lobbyists from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) are asking lawmakers and Obama’s transition team to funnel federal funds to “shovel-ready†projects as the best way to stimulate the flagging economy.
If I were a lobbyist for big business, and I was putting together a statement about how lawmakers should spend humongous amounts of taxpayers’ money, I would probably avoid using the word shovel. But that’s just me.
