Here’s Sen. Jon Kyl‘s notion of truth-telling. The context is that Kyl was defending Bush, and explaining how he is not in any way responsible for the mess the economy is in:

His tax rates being lower actually helped for six years create the second largest economic growth that we’ve had in the history of the country in recent years.

Certainly, one way to make that statement very, very true is to define “in recent years” as the last 16 years. The last two presidencies, in short. Hey, George comes in second! Way to go, George!

Kyl also said: “George Bush doesn’t run the economy.” Hell, most days, he doesn’t even run the country, Senator.
