How absolutely amazing is this?

Not once this year has President Bush appeared in public at a campaign rally for the Republican Party or any of its candidates.

How absolutely fitting, too.

You have to hand it to old George. He keeps coming up with new ways to put his name in the Book of All-time Presidential Records.

However, the CBS story also says:

Aides say Mr. Bush has accepted the fact that his approval ratings are in the cellar and no Republican candidates want him campaigning for them.

That sound to you at all like the George Bush that we know and love?

Aware of his own unpopularity, I can buy. If his closest advisers fortified themselves with a couple of drinks each, and then drew straws, and the unlucky loser actually kept his word instead of backing out, I can see that happening.

But George Bush has accepted the fact of his unpopularity? Come on, guys, stick to selling wars on Iraq or bridges in Alaska, why don’t you?
