In the perfect world, there would never be a need--medical or otherwise--for the procedure. The stance is PRO CHOICE. It's an extremely difficult, traumatic, and serious medical procedure. And unless you are going to step in and say that all medical procedures are open to government scrutiny, and overturn Griswold v Connecticut (1965) re. access to birth control, it is ultimately a PRIVATE MATTER. All we can do -- all of us who would prefer the least number of abortion possible be performed -- is counsel people against unprotected sex, and alleviate the cost of adoption and provide free counselling for prospective mothers and post-partum counselling after a baby has been put up for adoption.
