He would make absolutely bizarre and unfounded accusations against his enemies. They would respond by pointing out that Stalin was lying and demonstrate how Stalin himself was corrupt. Then he would label them "reactionaries" and contrast them with true "revolutionaries." Then, he'd bring charges against them of anti-revolutionary actions (because being a reactionary was by definition not revolutionary). We all know what happened to these people. Replace "reactionary" with "liberal" and "revolutionary" with "maverick" and you see very worrisome parallelism. This has been Bush/Cheney/Rove's tactic all along, and john mccain has jumped onto the bus with both feet.
