For The Sake Of The American People
by sarabeth at 6:00 am on September 23rd, 2008 in 2008 Presidential, Lipstick on a Pig, St. John McCainJohn McCain was asked on Sunday night about the campaign’s reluctance to let Sarah Palin talk to reporters and answer questions:
Senator Biden, Senator Obama’s running mate, has done 84 interviews and news conferences by our count. And Governor Palin has done two. And I wonder why that is. There’s a perception that you might be nervous about what she might say, that you’re not putting her in front of reporters.
McCain’s reply: “the American people are vetting her”.
McCain, as usual, misspoke. Our sleeper agents embedded deep in the McCain campaign inform us that what he really meant to say was: “So that the American people don’t end up wetting their beds.”
(As an aside, the McCain campaign has decided that instead of scrutinizing Sarah Palin, the press should really be scrutinizing media criticism of Sarah Palin.)
