Parsing Palin

The WSJ seems to have convinced itself that Ma Palin has sworn off seeking earmarks in the future:

In an interview with ABC News on Friday, Gov. Palin herself suggested she no longer seeks earmarks for her state. “The abuse of earmarks, it’s un-American, it’s undemocratic, and it’s not going to be accepted in a McCain-Palin administration. Earmark abuse will stop.”

That strikes me as an extremely naive interpretation of Palin’s words. What I hear her saying is:
a) The abuse of earmarks will stop. The use of earmarks, of course, must continue.
b) When I am queen (“in a McCain-Palin administration”), the abuse of earmarks (by others) will stop. This, of course, has nothing whatsoever to do with my conduct if I remain governor of Alaska.
