John McCain’s Amazing Technicolor Incompetence

by sarabeth at 6:00 am on September 1st, 2008 in 2008 Presidential, St. John McCain

Yet another unbelievable McCain factoid:

The McCain campaign has gone to great lengths to present the selection of Sarah Palin as one made after a careful, meticulous vetting process. But evidence continues to suggest that the Arizona Republican made his VP choice with surprising haste.

On Saturday, a Democrat tasked with opposition research contacted the Huffington Post with this piece of information: as of this weekend, the McCain campaign had not gone through old newspaper articles from the Valley Frontiersman, Palin’s hometown newspaper.

How does he know? The paper’s (massive) archives are not online. And when he went to research past content, he was told he was the first to inquire.

“No one else had requested access before,” said the source. “It’s unbelievable. We were the only people to do that, which means the McCain camp didn’t.”

So he can’t be trusted to conduct elementary due diligence on his own vice-presidential candidate, but we can trust him with the presidency?

And he can’t be trusted to tell the truth about anything, can he? And we certainly need eight more years of that, don’t we?

Well, gee, when you’re a member of a party in which you’ve been conditioned to believe God’s telling you what to do, why should you do due diligence? Just close your eyes and see what comes to you…straight from God!

And besides, this is consistent with W not checking out the Saudi Royals before letting them jet out of the U.S. the day after 9/11, or with him “looking into Putin’s eyes” and being able to tell that he is a real neat-o guy.

The only thing the right wingnuts appear to be competent in is getting sheep to believe their false narratives about liberals.
