John McCain’s presidential campaign has released a withering television ad comparing Barack Obama to Britney Spears and Paris Hilton, suggesting the Democratic contender is little more than a vapid but widely recognized media concoction.
Now I happen to be a bit sympathetic to the “media concoction” characterization, but it’s pretty clear that this ad is racially tainted - shades of the 2006 Ford/Corker Senate race in Tennessee. Not that it’s especially surprising coming from John McCain who, at this point, would apparently say anything. What is surprising is that on the very same day, McCain’s campaign manager Rick Davis said:
“Barack Obama has played the race card, and he played it from the bottom of the deck. It’s divisive, negative, shameful and wrong.”
I guess Davis ran out of breath before he could work in “lewd, lascivious, salacious, outrageous.” In any event, this is just the height of hypocrisy. The only comfort is that the media is waking up to the fact that McCain is actually the piece of shit we’ve known him to be.

The Obama camp stated that the celebrity ad is insulting to the american people. I disagree. I am an american. I am not insulted. The McCain camp had bored me for quiet some time . Now, I feel liked a new energizer bunny. I also disagree in calling McCain a piece of shit. Actually, Rick Davis was smart for quickly putting a cap on the race issue so the Obama cannot use the race issue against McCain. He also responded much more carefully and respectfully than the Clintons. The truth was Obama had loose lip moments on many occasions. His own words are now being used against him. Has Obama forgotten the primary is over? The general election is a much larger audience. Some people are not only hearing. We are listening. Some of us do not need a pamper. We need a leader. We don’t need to hear what we want to hear. We want to hear what we need to hear.
