Raising Gobbledygook-speak To New Levels

by sarabeth at 6:00 am on July 17th, 2008 in Bush Man Date, Depends on the Definition of, Iraq War

For a long time now, I have used a standard pejorative for people who display exceptional stupidity. I’ve described them as possessing an IQ less than their age. But that clearly doesn’t cut it for someone as colossally stupid as Doug Feith.

As proof of colossal stupidity, I present this exchange with Rep. Jerrold Nadler at Tuesday’s House Judiciary subcommittee hearing on torture:

NADLER: : Let me ask you. How could you force someone to be naked –

FEITH: It doesn’t say naked. It doesn’t say naked.

NADLER: Removal of clothing. Removal of clothing doesn’t mean naked?

FEITH: Removal of clothing is different from naked.

I submit that, by all available evidence, Feith’s IQ is substantially less than the total number of letters in his name.

It is my considered opinion that this exchange, coupled with the fact that Doug Feith was a key architect of the Iraq war, is a sufficient explanation for why everything got so hopelessly screwed up in Iraq.

I can’t help feeling that while the word snafu has been around since the Second World War, it took the Bush administration to really bring it to life in glorious technicolor.
