American Express Sued Over Funding Hezbollah Attacks Bloomberg (7/14/08):

American Express Bank Ltd. was sued for allegedly helping Hezbollah wage rocket attacks on American, Israeli and Canadian citizens in Israel by handling wire transfers worth millions of U.S. dollars.

American Express “enabled, facilitated, supported and assisted Hezbollah to carry out the acts of terrorism which harmed the plaintiffs” according to a complaint filed July 11 in New York State Supreme Court in Manhattan.

The 85 victims and family members who brought the suit say plaintiffs, say that New York-based American Express, the biggest U.S. credit-card lender, and Lebanese Canadian, a lender based in Beirut, failed to heed New York State and U.S. banking laws to monitor and report suspicious banking transactions carried out by Hezbollah.
