The Political News We Deserve

(1) What they tell us

AP:

People would rather barbecue burgers with Barack Obama than with John McCain.

While many are still deciding who should be president, by 52 percent to 45 percent they would prefer having Obama than McCain to their summer cookout, according to an Associated Press-Yahoo News poll released Wednesday.

And just in case you prefer your polling data sliced and diced, it’s all helpfully broken down by gender, race and age:

Men are about evenly divided between the two while women prefer Obama by 11 percentage points. Whites prefer McCain, minorities Obama. And Obama is a more popular guest with younger voters while McCain does best with the oldest.

(2) What they don’t

Summer activities people would much rather do with McCain than Obama:
Flip-flopping at the beach
— Grilling detainees
— Waterboarding

It’s all good, clean fun. And most of it saves our lives, every single day.

I wished Sen. Obama and his family were white. If they were, he and his wife would not be called terrorists and scrutinized for every single word that comes out of their mouths. He and his family lives wouldn’t be threatened. In spite of all the negativity, I am voting for Barack all the same. I wouldn’t care if he were green, yellow, purple, or orange, I would vote for this man. I wouldn’t care if he had 6 arms and 4 legs, I would vote for this man. I just hate how the republican party are just straight up lying on him and takes every word that he says and twist and crumble them into a thousand dirty pieces. When he retaliates, then he’s portrayed as an evil villian. Hopefully, he will win the Presidential election. That’s when all hell will break loose. I hope a civil revolution will not occur when he wins. If it does, it will be much worse than 50 years ago. Citizens of this country will not stand by and do nothing. They will be hurt, they will be angry, they will stand up.
A few weeks ago, I thought Sen. Obama winning would truly unite this country. But from what I read on some of these blogs, those people that hate minorities, their hate and bigotry has magnified 100x’s greater. When will the African American race be truly equal to the white race of this country? What do we have to prove that we are as good and as qualified as you? If we complain about not being treated equal, you say, this is a free country with opportunities for all. If you want it, you have to go get it. No one is holding you back. Then on that same note, an African American man is running for the highest office in the United States and you say, “oh, he’s not qualified. He has no business running for President. So which is it? Times like these, I really don’t care much for my country. I guess I’ve just committed treason saying that statement but that’s just how i feel.

From a very sad citizen of this country.
