Here’s Georgia Republican Party chairwoman Sue Everhart demonstrating this fine art of Republican-speak: “John McCain is kind of like Jesus Christ on the cross” was followed in short order by “I’m not trying to compare John McCain to Jesus Christ”.

In her own defense, maybe she only meant “I’m not really trying, it happens even without any volition on my part”?
