Though the outcome was never in doubt, it’s satisfying to know that I’ll be represented in D.C. by someone who shares my values. No, not anyone running for President, new U.S. Representative from the CA-12, Jackie Speier:

The former state senator took a huge early lead Tuesday night in the race to finish the term of the late Democratic Rep. Tom Lantos and never looked back, collecting more than the 50 percent plus one vote needed to put her on a flight to Washington, D.C., this morning.

This likely becomes her seat for as long as she wants it, so hopefully she’ll continue go all out for what is right.
