Pakistan’s pseudo-democratic military dictator Pervez Musharraf has his faults — and we have remarked on them from time to time for many years now — but at least he is willing to admit the truth every little once in a while.

On Sunday, speaking at a military parade celebrating Pakistan’s Republic day, he frankly admitted that what he has presided over in Pakistan for the last 9 years is not a real democracy:

Embattled President Pervez Musharraf hailed the start of a “new era of real democracy” in Pakistan and vowed Sunday to support an incoming government led by foes bent on diminishing his powers.

Somebody should probably let Condi Rice and George Bush know. They have been touting Musharraf’s pseudo-democracy for years.
