Kevin Drum on Obama:
Still, speaking only for myself, at this point I’d like to see some kind of Sistah Souljah moment in reverse: something that demonstrates his willingness to take political risks on behalf of moving public opinion to the left. After all, if he’s willing to take political risks now, it’s a good sign that he’ll be willing to spend political capital later.
Yours truly (4/23/07):
I’d refer to this incident as Obama looking for his “Sistah Souljah moment,†but his entire campaign has been a three-month-long Sistah Souljah moment. What else can I say about the only person who learned more wrong lessons from the Clinton era than Hillary?
It’s never going to happen, Kevin. Obama figures that there are more Republican/Independent votes to gain from bashing liberals than there are Democratic votes to lose. He’s campaigned this way from day one, he’s never wavered, and he won’t.
