When there were clear signs that Bush’s vaunted n-consecutive-quarters-of-economic-growth economy was seriously messed up, and problems were looming, Bush and his band of economic charlatans kept ignoring or denying every warning sign. That was the duck-duck phase. Every uncomfortable portent of imminent disaster was ducked, as Matt has amply documented.

And now they want to goose the economy with another misconceived stimulus package.

Just remember how you reacted the last time you were goosed by someone other than your doctor.

Watch the economy and, once Bush’s demented advisers finalize what size and shape of object they’re going to goose the economy with, compare its reaction to yours.

For the record, my considered opinion is that goosing may help a doctor figure out if something is wrong with you, but no doctor ever tried to pretend to anyone I know that goosing was going to cure anyone’s ills.
