Quotable Quotes From Freddie

Buried deep within an AP story on Freddie Thompson, are Freddie’s views on bringing American troops home from Iraq:

About the Iraq war, he said, “I want most of our troops to come home as soon as they can.”

Let’s see, now, if most come home as soon as they can, then some stay on in Iraq even after they could have come home. Why does Freddie want this? These wouldn’t be the phony soldiers we keep hearing about, would they?

Since he was obviously on a roll, Freddie decided to also define victory in Iraq:

Victory, he said, is “when normal people can go to worship without fear of being blown up” and “when political leaders can meet without being blown up.”

So once normal people are being blown up only in their homes and on the street and in the markets and sundry other places that are not mosques, Freddie would bring most of our troops home?
