Obama: Congress Won’t Challenge Bush AP (9/13/07):

Despite the unpopularity of the Iraq war, Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama predicted Thursday that Congress won’t directly challenge President Bush’s plans and will focus instead on putting a ceiling on the number of troops deployed to that country.

Barack Obama is a sitting United States Senator. For Congress to directly challenge Bush’s plans entails nothing more than Barack Obama directly challenging Bush’s plans.

But don’t worry buddy, I’m sure we can compromise on something, right?

And since both Obama apologists weaseled out of my offer, I’ll remind everyone that it’s open to anyone.

*Update 3:00pm PDT: The AP has changed their story a bit, taking out the above summary of Obama’s position. It matters very little. Obama is not leading, and if he was anywhere near Chris Dodd’s position, he wouldn’t have to whine about not being able to flip Republican votes. Obama gets more press than anyone, and if he took a strong stand, the war would be closer to over, right now. His fatalistic prognostications are counterproductive and pathetic.
