Clockwise
by matt at 6:00 am on August 1st, 2007 in PhotosI shot the 2007 San Jose Grand Prix for SFist. I’m not much of a car guy (I don’t even have a driver’s license), but there’s something about being three feet away from Champ Cars doing 200 mph.
On Sunday morning, the only clean shirts I had left were my France and Netherlands futbol jerseys. I went with the white Netherlands kit because it was going to be a hot day. With a few minutes left in the race, I was walking down pit lane to be close to the podium for the trophy presentation. One of driver Robert Doornbos‘ (native of the Netherlands) crew recognized the jersey, and stopped me. Just then, Doornbos took the lead and his pit went crazy. They then rushed me with them out onto the track for the victory celebration. Timing and uniform are important.
