I’ve written a lot about what I’m not looking for in the next President. There will be plenty of time when the race gets serious to outline what I want to see, but for now I can’t even watch the debates. I do however want to highlight this quote from John Edwards:

“We cannot get bold change by compromising with the people who have the power now. Compromise is not going to get us there, triangulation is not going to get us there, being careful is not going to get us there.

Sound familiar? I’ve written about it here, time after time, before this campaign even started. As far as I am concerned, it is an article of faith. My support for Edwards isn’t based on a specific policy proposal, his focus on poverty, his general populism, or his appearance. It’s his mindset, expressed in the above quote. This is why.
