During my recent swing through Chicago, my friends took me on the downtown Chicago public art walk.
Within just a few blocks, you get to walk right up to sculptures by Calder, Dubuffet, Miro, Moore and Picasso (among others), as well as a huge mural by Chagall.
I asked this guy why he wasn’t exactly acting his age. He told me: “As you get older, you start compiling a mental list of ‘things I must do before I die’. Sliding down a Picasso surely belongs on everybody’s list?”
For the record, the Picasso in the picture is an untitled sculpture, known locally as … what else … “The Picasso”, donated by the artist to the city in 1967.
