“The Annotated Bush” Rides Again
by sarabeth at 6:00 am on July 13th, 2007 in Bush Man Date, Iraq War, PlamegateIt’s been too long, certainly.
On commuting Libby’s sentence:
I — first of all, the Scooter Libby decision was, I thought, a fair and balanced decision.
I have carefully examined my controversial decision myself. It is surprisingly fair and balanced. I’m all good. Just like Fox News.
On psychology:
First, I understand why the American people are — you know, they’re tired of the war. There is — people are — there is a war fatigue in America. It’s affecting our psychology. I’ve said this before. I understand that this is an ugly war.
No, Mr. P, there’s Bush fatigue in America. And, yes, Mr. P, it’s ugly. But you couldn’t understand that two plus two is four, if it was explained to you with colored marbles. (Speaking of which, find ‘em yet?)
On listening to advice:
And so I — you know, I value the advice of those senators. I appreciate their concerns about the situation in Iraq, and I am going to continue listening to them.
Sure I’ll listen. Listening is free. Following it, now that’s an entirely different matter. As long as Karl Rove has the photos and the videos that he has, I’ll just keep valuing and listening to such advice, and that’s pretty much it, thank you very much.
On higher math:
In my address to the nation in January, I put it this way: If we increase our support at this crucial moment we can hasten the day our troops begin coming home.
And all the while he’s thinking to himself: “I did learn something at Yale, no matter what everyone thinks. I may not know that two plus two is four but I sure as heck know that half of infinity is still infinity. It worked in January, it’ll work again in July. Suckers!”
Reporting from the gut:
How comfortable are you — sir, how comfortable are you with your Homeland Security Secretary saying, in the face of no credible intelligence of an imminent threat against the United States, that he has a gut feeling that one is coming this summer? And, sir, what does your gut tell you?
THE PRESIDENT: My gut tells me that — which my head tells me, as well — is that when we find a credible threat, I’ll share it with people, to make sure that we protect the homeland.
Isn’t that a very weird way for a gut to talk? My gut tells me this guy is no longer borderline insane. In other words, he’s crossed the line.
Please help save America. Commit to getting Bush committed.

There’s also Bush’s statement that his administration’s outing a CIA agent is old news and neither he nor we should give it more thought.
I very much like your blog and it’s solid content and good writing. Each Sunday I spotlight a small blog that my readers may not have yet discovered. Cool. Thanks.
As for that statement about the Plame case, I wrote about it yesterday.
