Fighting ‘em Over There

This is, of course, still very tentative, but here’s what The Telegraph is reporting about the London car bomb:

Whitehall sources said that the police and security services were looking at possible international links — including similarities to car bombs used by insurgents in Iraq.

Tentative, yes. But presumably Whitehall sources wouldn’t be saying it, and reputable media outlets like The Telegraph wouldn’t be reporting it, unless there were credible grounds for this suspicion.

Guess what? Georgie was wrong about why we’re fighting ‘em over there. Looks like they think we’re fighting them over there so they can train themselves to come fight us over here.

So let’s see, the war in Iraq is a recruitment bonanza for the terrorists, it’s a fund-raising bonanza, and it’s also a training bonanza. The whole package, huh?

George W. Bush. Keeping the flame of terrorism burning high since 2001. Please vote for the Republican candidate in 2008. Whether it’s Romney, Giuliani, McCain or Thompson, he’ll keep up the good work. You can bet your first-born child on that.

I’m a little suspicious of this part “including similarities to car bombs used by insurgents in Iraq” because the IRA had been using IED’s long before the Iraq war, including using remote detonaters and gas cylinders, such as the the one used in the Manchester bombing in 1996, so what exactly is the similarity to Iraq car bombs and how do they differ than the IRA car bombs that England was used to already? Seems the real similarity is that Islamic terrorists are(suspected to be) involved….
