I recently excoriated C”N”N‘s Senior Legal Analyst Jeff Toobin for an act of wholly gratuitous fear-mongering.

I call ‘em as I see ‘em, and let the cow-chips fall where they may. But I’m also fair to a fault.

So today I’m glad to report that Toobin partially redeemed himself right after the Libby verdict was announced. I don’t see it anywhere on the internets yet, but here’s what I saw and heard.

First, Toobin declared himself to be surprised at the harshness of the verdict. And then he said that he wasn’t sure what “other so-called legal experts” (emphasis mine) thought of the verdict.*

Being honest with the American people about who or what you are is always an important first step, don’t you think?

* He also took the opportunity to read a Libby character reference into the record, but that’s neither here nor there.
