Glory Be To Bush

The Senate has scheduled cloture votes today on four different Iraq War funding “resolutions”. (Technically, they are amendments to a domestic water resources bill.) The one that caught my eye was Sen. John Warner’s amendment. Among other things:

The measure also would require troop deployments if the Iraqi government passes a resolution calling for a U.S. withdrawal.

We are now at the point where we need legislation that says we will respect the sovereignty of a sovereign nation. And this too hath Bush wrought.

unfortunately, the president actually doesn’t know what the word sovereign means.
    seriously

“Tribal sovereignty means that; it’s sovereign. I mean, you’re a — you’ve been given sovereignty, and you’re viewed as a sovereign entity. And therefore the relationship between the federal government and tribes is one between sovereign entities.”

the clip is hilarious. the written word does not do justice to the cluelessness of his tone.
