Taking A Bow

I knew the day would come when my affectionate nickname for General Alberto Gonzales would become common parlance. Almost the coin of the realm.

Here’s the opening line from a post last night on FireDogLake:

I only got to dip into today’s testimony by Abu “Buttercheeks” Gonzales…

The first recorded use of the name by a blog other than 1115! How about that! Now if only they will ascribe it to us. Strenuous efforts to achieve that are almost under way. That is to say, I’m just about to shoot off an email in their direction.

Early on, I used to link back to the original post, but I guess I stopped doing it.

This may or may not explain anything, but here’s how it started:

I’m just in awe of General Alberto “Buttercheeks” Gonzalez.

As for the nickname, don’t ask. I wouldn’t give up the secret even if you water-boarded me. All I’m going to say is a man doesn’t have just two cheeks.

This man is just effing awesome. If he were in jail, the entire prison population of Texas would want him as their cellmate.

He totally kicks ass. He has proudly done things no Attorney General will ever do again.

Let me count the ways, though no mere list can ever do justice to his outrageously sexy genius.

Maybe some things shouldn’t be deconstructed?

I just dropped a link to this post in last night’s Late Nite and do solemnly swear to give proper attribution in all future deployment (and lo, they shall be legion!) of the appellation “Buttercheeks” Gonzales.

    *gong sounds*

I have been told it is unwise to annoy the SaraBeast!

    that…?

…you should coin affectionate nicknames for all the villains? (that is not a reference to SaraBeast!)

…strenuous efforts are always worth making?

…you too should live in mortal fear of me?

    clearly option 3.
