He Also Served; Then He Stood Around Waiting
by sarabeth at 6:00 am on March 1st, 2007 in Bush Man Date, Iraq WarYou may have wondered, like some have, why there have been so few medals awarded for valor in action in the Iraq and Afghanistan wars.
If so, you were probably pleased to learn that, on February 26, President Bush presented the Medal of Honor to Lieutenant Colonel Bruce Crandall.
You may have been nonplussed initially to find that he was being awarded the medal “41 years after his heroic actions in Vietnamâ€.
But on the plus side, now we can begin to understand the dearth of Iraq and Afghanistan medals so far.
There is, of course, only one remaining mystery to be cleared up (and I’m confident Tony Snow will prove equal to this task, as he has to so many others).
How come it was clear right away how deserving these guys were of the Presidential Medal of Freedom: Gen. Tommy Franks, who presided over the initial invasion of Iraq, former CIA Director George Tenet and former Iraq administrator Paul “Pallets of Cash” Bremer?
