Oversight?
by matt at 12:06 am on January 30th, 2007 in Bush Man DateFunny choice of words (talking about his own choice of words) coming from a man who for six years has acted as if he doesn’t know the meaning of the word oversight:
President Bush says the missing “-ic” in the State of the Union address was nothing more than an oversight.
Near the beginning of the speech last week, Bush congratulated “the Democrat majority” for its electoral victory, using a long-standing Republican formulation seen by many Democrats as a calculated insult.
[…]
“That was an oversight,” said Bush, who frequently uses the formulation.
Bush continued:
“I am surprised, frankly, at the amount of distrust that exists in this town,” the president said.
Frankly, the only way he could possibly be surprised is if he actually does have the memory, attention span, and comprehension of a small child. Bush (12/13/00):
I am optimistic that we can change the tone in Washington, D.C.
I believe things happen for a reason, and I hope the long wait of the last five weeks will heighten a desire to move beyond the bitterness and partisanship of the recent past.
Our nation must rise above a house divided. Americans share hopes and goals and values far more important than any political disagreements.
Just call the party by its name and find something else to catastrophicize.

I’m sure he could deliver that chunk from the Dec. 2000 speech again today with a perfectly straight face and just the usual amount of smirking.
I would, though, like to see him explain what he believes is the reason for Iraq.
