If Only Wishes WERE Horses
by sarabeth at 5:35 pm on January 28th, 2007 in Bush Man DateFrom the latest Newsweek poll:
The president’s approval ratings are at their lowest point in the poll’s history — 30 percent — and more than half the country (58 percent) say they wish the Bush presidency were simply over, a sentiment that is almost unanimous among Democrats (86 percent), and is shared by a clear majority (59 percent) of independents and even one in five (21 percent) Republicans.
To me the real news is that a national poll is even asking a question like that. How low has a President sunk in the eyes of the nation when that’s a legitimate poll question?

i ask again, for the 80th time, who are the people that re-elected him? i hope they feel really badly right now. there are other countries where elections are not a predetermined times, they just sort of happen, right? can’t we move towards that? i mean, the campaigning has already started, no?

That would be a bad idea. It would be the California recall election on a national scale.
I’ve been hearing all these Republican politicians lately saying things like, “Well, the toppling of Saddam went exceedingly well, it’s just that pesky nation-building that’s been a bother,” and I have been literally screaming at the radio and/or television, in my own house in front of my children, things like “No fucking shit motherfucker, what do you think us pinko faggots were shouting about in 2003!?” Like this morning, for instance, when NPR was interviewing Mitt Romney and he said pretty much the same thing and I was reduced to shouting in my hoarse morning voice at 5:58 am.
Anyone who voted for Bush in 2004 owes us a big fat fucking apology. For reals.

The fuckwits who voted for this guy don’t owe us an apology — they owe us our country … and I want it back. Today, if possible.

A country that has been raped for 8 years like this one will have been by the time we get it back will take a long, long time to get back to what used to be normal.
