AP on Saturday:

President Bush’s State of the Union address on Tuesday gives him a second chance to defend his new Iraq strategy to a nation soured on the war and a Congress poised to vote against the plan.

I would have put it a little differently myself. He gets a second chance to pitch his new Iraq “strategy” to a nation whose first reaction to the plan fell somewhere between “You have got to be kidding!” and “Go fug yourself, Mr. President!”

A Newsweek poll finds that 68% of Americans are opposed to the Bush escalation plan (with 45% being “strongly opposed”). Other highlights: the President received “his lowest ratings so far for his handling of the war (24 percent)”.
