I couldn’t agree more. The question still remains: Who? MC, I know your answer is Clark, but much like Mr. Stoller I wonder how he could do it. Regardless, if the Who? doesn’t get answered within the next year, we may be looking at 2012, not 2008.

the longer clark waits to get in and raise money, the less likely it becomes that he will run. if he has made the determination that he can’t win, and that a futile run wouldn’t serve anyone i stand behind him. if he wants to fight it out anyway, then i’m open to hearing his case. i’m not going to list my other favorite here, i’ll save that for when i actually write all of this down.

I agree. Great post. It really puts things in perspective and frames things in such a way that makes Edwards the real frontrunner at this point, which is a surprise to me.
I’m still pulling for Clark though, and haven’t given up hope that Gore might decide to run.

i really think gore could win. he seems to have been embraced by many people since the ‘00 “loss”, and he really has an immunity that others might not have having run for (and held) such high offices multiple times in the past without any problems…….

Unfortunately, Gore is a huge unknown in this conversation. At this point, it doesn’t make sense to talk about him the same way we discuss Clinton, Edwards, Obama or Clark. They’ve all got exploratory committees. At the same time, if Gore does in fact give it another go, he’d be a huge player and would completely reshape the landscape of the primary.
May 07 will likely be a key month. If he’s going to run, he’ll surely coincide some sort of movement in that direction with the release of his book. Until then, he’s just an elephant in the room.

One more reason to like Clark.
