The Wheel of Life, Politics Edition
by sarabeth at 6:00 am on November 20th, 2006 in PoliticsYou may have wondered, in idle moments, what is supposed to happen once we elect those good-looking, smooth-talking, TV-camera-genic people to Congress. How exactly do these eager public servants go about doing the people’s business, delivering to us a government of the people, by the people, for the people? The Washington Post lays it out very nicely:
Veteran lawmakers say an effective majority conceives and executes a legislative agenda, while an effective minority exploits the majority’s weaknesses, derails its efforts and lays blame at its feet, all while building a case for taking back control in the next election.
Presumably, if the minority party does a good job of exploiting, derailing and blame-laying, voters are moved to reincarnate them in the next election as the majority party.
