The ABCs of Radio Journalism Soundbites
by Jason at 2:32 pm on November 1st, 2006 in '06/'08 Campaigns, John Kerry, MediaYou know, I have already resigned myself to the fact that John Kerry’s comment/botched joke/whatever would be grabbed by the media and pumped up like a monster in Dig-Dug. Never mind that Kerry’s statement is getting about a hundred times more press than the President’s earlier claim that a vote for the Democrats would hand terrorists a victory. Never mind that Kerry’s statement is getting more press than the death of two more troops in Iraq alongside the usual melange of bombings and murder.
Neither of those two stories were mentioned on the ABC Radio news break today, but Kerry’s statement was all over it, and guess who was interviewed and quoted for it? None other than Karl Rove himself. So not only do they continue to push this story, but they use it to give a platform to one of the people who has a vested interest in keeping the controversy level as high as possible. Nicely done.
One week to go. If I can keep my head from exploding before then, it will be an important personal victory.

Surely there are people in Beantown more deserving of your water than Kerry?
