Disjoint Thoughts
by sarabeth at 6:00 am on October 30th, 2006 in Bush Man Date, GeneralOver the last three or four years, we have somehow come to accept it as perfectly normal that the people at the very top of the Bush administration – including, at the very least, President Bush and Vice-President Cheney and Defense Secretary Rumsfeld – are and always will be seriously out of touch with reality. So seriously that words like delusional do not even begin to cover it.
If the estate tax is a death tax, and death and taxes are the two great inevitables, then doesn’t that make estate taxes doubly inevitable?
When Bush and Cheney insist that we do not practice torture, could they possibly mean that we don’t need to, that past practice has already made us perfect?
What gets Bush off in his wet dreams about the economy, Adam Smith’s invisible hand?
What it would take to get Rumsfeld fired:
If Bush were to walk in on him, in the middle of an admiring circle, doing his best impression of Jon Stewart doing his impossibly bad impression of Bush, going: “I’m the Secretary, see? I secrete.”
