Depends on the Definition of Winning
by matt at 1:00 pm on October 16th, 2006 in Depends on the Definition of, Podium SpinFresh off his gushing about how much fun it is to prance around at the Oval Playpen, White House Press Secretary Tony Snow was back at work on Monday:
QUESTION: Just a simple question: Are we winning?
SNOW: We’re making progress. I don’t know. How do you define winning?
The fact is, in taking on the war on terror — no, let me put it this way: The president’s made it obvious we’re going to win.
It’s a nice little homage to our “Depends on the Definition of..” category, but shouldn’t someone with such lofty access be able to answer a question like this? A high ranking military officer assured me that “Iraq and Afghanistan are going great,” why can’t Snow?
On the other hand, I would love to know just when and how the President “made it obvious we’re going to win.” Does it have something to do with the “Mission Accomplished” banner?
