Despite a stern, yet jaunty warning not to go back to my favorite place to shoot, I did manage a return visit to the Heppenstall complex in Pittsburgh last month. The photos are on Flickr and Top Shotta.

But apropos of the time I got caught distorting Katrina damage in the 9th Ward, Jason wants everyone to know that Heppenstall may look like it was abandoned 30 years ago due to trick photography, but in reality it is fully functional and providing well-paying jobs for American workers.

I grew up on lower 45th street in the shadow of the Heppenstall plant in Lawrenceville. I always wondered what was behind the rusted steel doors at the end of my street. Thanks for satisfying my curiousity. The photos are amazing!
