Bush staff wanted bomb-detect cash moved (USAT):

While the British terror suspects were hatching their plot, the Bush administration was quietly seeking permission to divert $6 million that was supposed to be spent this year developing new homeland explosives detection technology.

But I’m not allowed to criticize, right?

    Talk to any bomb expert, weapons expert, etc., and they will tell you that no matter how much stuff we ban on airplanes, what kind of things we develop to detect bombs, how much money we spend in trying to thwart explosives or weapons, there is always a way around it. Always. You can make a bomb out of a portable cd player, and the cd player would still play music.

    This country is quickly becoming fascist. Terrorists are winning by default because our rights are being taken away on a daily basis as a way to “protect” us. That’s what fighting terrorism over here does–instead we should stop being pussies, scew world opinion, and blow up every terrorist sponsered country that screws with us.

    So who exactly do we bomb into oblivion over this particular plot? England or Pakistan, them being the only two countries mentioned?

    Yes, that sounds like an excellent argument for not taking elementary precautions.

    We should bomb several countries into little pieces in order to preserve our right to carry liquids onto planes? Which “terrorist sponsered country” (whatever that means) do we start with? And we don’t worry about all the innocent men, women and children we will render into component body-parts? Because we’re so much better than the terrorists?

    For the record, we screwed world opinion pretty early into this administration.

    The obvious answer to this current terrorist plot is to fight them in some other random country. Preferably one where they have no presence to begin with. I vote for Sweden, since we need to preserve the supply of cheap furniture and hot blondes.

    The way we like to go about things under this President, fighting them in Sweden will probably assure permanent disruption in the supply of cheap furniture and hot blondes.

    If enough of us complain, the administration may be moved to attempt to remedy the situation. But we’ll probably end up with hot furniture and cheap blondes, at best.

    About innocent lives… they don’t care about innocent lives (9/11 and events beforehand). If you want to play nice, then don’t cry when your family gets bombed over here because you expect them to play nice.
