Superman ‘not gay’ says director (BBC):

Superman Returns director Bryan Singer has played down newspaper, magazine and internet speculation that his version of the superhero is gay.
Superman “is probably the most heterosexual character in any movie I’ve ever made,” said Singer.

Wow. I never thought we’d see a blockbuster movie marketed using the “no homo” method. But the big problem here isn’t homophobia, it’s accuracy.

Singer directed Usual Suspects, and I think Keaton, Fenster, McManus, and Hockney would take issue with being called more gay than a guy who wears tights and a damn cape. And that’s all before we even consider that Kaiser Soze would probably set Singer on fire for even thinking that he wasn’t voted most hetero.
